Gus! Gus! Gus!

Gus & his parents came to visit from Boston a week or so ago. Gus is a funny, easy-going little guy, who tolerated our demanding babies very well for an almost-two-year-old. We started calling Annie and Ivan the "zombie babies" because they would slowly and relentlessly descend upon Gus whenever he was quietly playing with a toy. By the time Gus realized what was happening, it would be too late--the babies would have the toy in their clutches, and Gus could only look stressed out and yell "No babies! No babies!" By the end of the trip, Gus was yelling "No babies" in his sleep. I think he was thoroughly traumatized.

Here's Gus at the playground in Laguna Beach.

Here's all of us at the baby beach in Dana Point.

Gus in the water at baby beach. It was VERY COLD water, but Gus didn't seem to mind a bit.

Our Boston friends at Laguna Beach. Yay friends!

Blogging about not blogging

I'm very behind in my posting because I have been very busy lately. Gus and his parents came to visit from Boston, then I had lots of work to do, then Ivan and Annie both did face plants in the same day resulting in a bloody lip (Ivan) and nose (Annie). Then there was more work. Oh! And I've been co-planning my sister's baby shower, which is tomorrow, and no, I'm not prepared.

Annie is now walking ALL. OVER. THE. PLACE. Today she walked all the way down the hall, then turned around and walked back. Ivan took a few steps yesterday, or so Steve says; I was at work. Ivan has two top teeth peeking through his gums. Annie has been a bit fretful and drooly; I looked in her mouth the other day and it looks like she has at least two and maybe four teeth coming in. Poor baby.

Steve just settled his first solo case, and that night we left the babies with the nanny and had an actual date (the babies were going to bed as we left, so I didn't feel too bad about abandoning them). Oh, and the ABA funded a grant proposal that I wrote, which is neat and also a little scary because now someone has to figure out how to do what I said we were going to do.

I have photos to post from our fun-filled weekend, but that will have to happen later, when I have more time.

She's really walking now.

Yesterday

It was sunny and warm yesterday so we went to the park. Sara, Dan, Paul and Nanny came along.

On the way back, Annie got tired of her car and decided to hitch a ride on my shoulders.

Later on, Ivan showed off his new hand-clapping skills.

Silly

Ivan loves to play peek-a-boo. And Annie, of course, has to get her chubby fingers on everything.

Walkie McWalkerson

Annie has been taking short dashes from furniture to parent and parent to furniture. When she feels like it, that is. If people are around and we're trying to show off her new skills, suddenly she's completely uninterested. But we foiled her little plan by taking a video!

Up he goes!

Max and Erin just bought a beautiful new house, which means we're the last renters in the family. (We're so proud.) The new house has a nice long set of carpeted stairs, which Ivan zipped up in no time. How did he know how to do that? These babies are always taking me by surprise, doing things I thought were still a ways down the road.
